Latin America saw a boom in backbone communications infrastructure in the late 1990s during the Internet boom. However, “last mile” is often lacking, particularly in the rural areas where in some countries there is only a 7% Internet penetration in schools.
Latin America is attempting to leapfrog legacy communication systems (such as land lines or cable) by installing next generation wireless connectivity primarily Wi-MAX and satellite Internet.
As the technology arm for Defense Solutions Inc. (one of very few American companies licensed to conduct business directly with the Iraqi Government), we are currently engaged in several technology projects within Iraq.
Through this relationship we are also discussing projects in Northern Africa and Afghanistan
